  Letter from Linda
April, 2010

Dear Friends,

The Y and S campaign is finally over…and it was successful! This community demonstrated again its deep and abiding commitment to schools. While the campaign itself is in some ways the ultimate stressor for a superintendent, it also gave me much to celebrate.

I got to spend lots of time working side by side with an amazing group of parents. I was blown away by their tireless energy. They met on evenings to plan, on weekends they walked door to door, and they communicated their passion for quality education to the entire community for weeks on end. Mark Livingston, Vivian McBride, and Tonya Powell were the three outstanding trichairs who kept us focused and organized. But along with them was a large group of people who took on active roles that proved invaluable in developing and communicating a clear message. With careful fiscal management, this levy should last us five years. We plan on accomplishing just that.

We know many community members will make real sacrifices to support this levy and we promise to keep that in mind as we move forward. I want to express a personal thank you to the entire campaign committee and all the volunteers who helped to make Y and S a success. I also want to thank the voters who took time out of their schedules to support their schools. We won’t disappoint you.

Sincerely,

Linda Henke
Superintendent
