MRH Names New Assistant Superintendent

Karen Hall
Karen Hall has been chosen to serve as the MRH School District’s assistant superintendent beginning July 1, 2008. She replaces Charles Pearson, who is retiring to pursue other interests.

Hall currently serves as the principal of Willow Brook Elementary School in the Pattonville School District. Previous to that, she worked as an elementary school assistant principal in both the Pattonville and Ritenour School Districts and as a teacher in the Kirkwood School District.

“I am excited about the opportunity and the new role I will play in developing the lives of MRH children,” says Hall about her new position. “I feel honored to be a part of the MRH community.”

Hall is currently pursuing her doctorate of educational leadership. She has a master’s degree in educational administration from St. Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in education from Fontbonne College.

Pearson is leaving MRH to pursue another interest in education. Following is his statement about the change.

“After a 30-year career in public education, I have decided to retire. My ‘retirement’ however really means that I am simply changing a focus. My church has been researching starting a school for the past three years. The team is amazing-- composed of educators from throughout the metro area. I am going to devote time to that venture now. In addition, I plan to get more involved in the current movement related to social justice in the St. Louis area. Because of MRH's commitment to social justice, I know my relationships with the district will continue."

"This has been a rich opportunity for me to learn, do some very important work, and be part of a dynamic team. Education is still ‘honorable’ work in a ‘cynical’ world. It has been an honor to be a part of the MRH community.”
