MRH Elementary Receives eMINTS Technology Grant
MRH Elementary School has received an eMINTS grant from the state of Missouri for nearly $29,000 which will introduce one-to-one laptop computing and higher-level thinking through technology to sixth grade students.
Sixth grade science teacher Lauren Borger will utilize the eMINTS technology and instructional model in her classes. The eMINTS program is already in place and highly successful at MRH Middle, where teachers have used the technology to transform teaching and learning in their classrooms.
As part of the grant, Borger will receive extensive eMINTS training and classroom coaching, similar to that which the middle school teachers have experienced. Borger's class is the first step of an investigation into applying for an eMINTS grant for other classrooms in the elementary school.
eMINTS (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies) supports educators as they integrate multimedia technology into inquiry-based, student-centered, interdisciplinary, collaborative teaching practices that result in higher levels of student performance. eMINTS is a national program involving more than 1500 teachers and classrooms in Missouri and across the country.
