Throughout the past two school years, High School and Middle School teachers have studied the Understanding by Design (UbD) model of curriculum planning. The secondary curriculum is in the process of being redesigned using the UbD model. MRH teachers begin their curriculum by working with national and state standards to identify teaching and learning priorities and to guide their design of curriculum and assessments.
Through UbD, teachers identify desired results (goals or standards) and then develop curriculum from the evidence of learning (performances) called for by the standard and teaching needed to equip students to perform. New High School courses and curriculum are developed in this sequence to provide students with enduring understanding.
